This dress is showing the rim of the Sun, exploring the feelings of connection to “Space”.
The latest image of the sun (real time) is taken from the Nasa site:
The image is imported in a Processing sketch which scans the rim and sends the data to the dress (using RF12). On the dress 64 LED’s show the area’s of activity on the rim of the Sun. The Sun is revolving slowly, so connecting once a day is enough to have the latest effects alive on your garment.
The “inner working” of the LED circle:
The circle is placed on the hip, where it bends slightly around the body. On the “surface” of the dress some topological phenomena of the Sun’s surface are recreated, like loops.
